Apart from dietitians and nutritional experts, medical and several allied health professionals (e.g. Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Occupational Health, Social Prescribers etc) do not have an undergraduate programme that devotes much time to the role of food in health because of the competing components in the curriculum.

If you trained more than a few years ago it is also likely that some of your understanding of the role of diet on health was based on evidence that was gathered in the 1980s or earlier.  Most of this was either directly or indirectly influenced by the food industry.

Advances in gene sequencing and research independent of food industry funding have changed the way scientists now believe how food influences healthspan.

Eating for Better Health (EBH) offers a range of interactive educational and/or hands-on cooking events and courses that aim to inform and update health and allied professionals. Possibiities include:

  • 2–3-hour presentational workshop or a half day
  • Whole fun day If required can include hands-on cooking in several groups of 2-3 people at a station
